2006 Gibson Custom Shop Double-Neck Guitar in that classic Cherry Red finish. The Gibson EDS-1275 Double-neck famously allowed Jimmy Page to perform Stairway To Heaven live without the need for a clumsy mid-song guitar change. Page also used the weighty instrument live for renditions of other Led Zeppelin classics such as The Rain Song, Gallows Pole and The Song Remains The Same. Awesome, ultra cool, iconic! Gibson’s first double-neck guitars were produced from 1958 to 1961 with a hollow body and two 6-string necks; from 1962 to 1967 it had a solid body. In 1963, the solid-body EDS-1275 was designed, resembling the SG model. This version of the double-neck was available until 1968. Though based on the famous Gibson SG design, both necks of the 1275 have a shorter scale fret board than the SG and fixed tail pieces. The guitar was available in jet black, cherry, sunburst, and white. In 1974, Gibson started making the guitar again, in a number of additional colors, with production lasting until 1998. Since then, Alpine white and Heritage Cherry versions were made by Gibson USA in Nashville, Tennessee, until 2003, in the Nashville Custom Shop from 2004 to 2005, and in the Memphis, Tennessee, Custom Shop beginning in 2006. The EDS-1275, while never selling in great quantities, was used by a number of notable musicians. Chicago bluesman Earl Hooker is seen holding one on the cover of the 1969 albums Two Bugs and a Roach and The Moon is Rising, and Elvis Presley sports a cherry double-neck in the 1966 movie Spinout. This Legendary axe sports a Cherry Red finish, solid double-cutaway mahogany body, 2 21-fret maple necks, the upper with 12 strings and the lower with 6, rosewood fingerboards with ES-345-style split parallelogram inlays. Nice matched pairs of 490R and 498T humbucking pickups for each neck, 3-ply black guard(s), 2 volume and two tone controls, 3-way pickup selector and 3-way neck selector (letting the 12-string resonate sympathetically while playing the 6 is a lot of fun). Easy 9.9/10, excellent condition. ALL Original- NO Breaks, Cracks or Repairs, Includes COA and Original Hard Shell Case, SEE more pics at our site!!
