Vintage Selmer/Saxon Hummingbird Pre Lawsuit circa1972 JAPAN
In fantastic condition for its age
Low action and ready to play
Comes with the hardcase
Probably made in either the FujiGen or Matsumoku outfits, Japan.
This is a rare guitar to find in such nice condition, and very similar to the Ibanez branded guitars made in the region, this one was made exclusively for and imported by Henri Selmer of London.
Being an early replica version of the Gibson Hummingbird and made in the early 70’s, this protagonist was among the originators of the so called ‘lawsuit’ that was initiated back then due to the many features its designers ‘borrowed’ from Gibson….
Split Marker inlays
Gibson neck profile
Open Book’ headstock
Classic Hummingbird pickguard (bird not strummed off which is unusual!)
Spruce top + Mahogany sides and back
The list goes on really, especially in terms of that classic deep, rich and balanced tone, hence side by side, this holds up very well to an original costing perhaps six or seven times as much.
50 year old guitar it is in fantastic shape and becoming a very collectible piece.
The logo on the headstock is a sticker we can leave it on or take it off.
